The Czech Grand Design Awards are design awards given out every year by the Czech Design Academy. The awards acclaim persons for the best works in product design, fashion, jewelry, graphic design, photography and illustration, and they are awarded as part of a gala evening. The CGD Awards aim to spread awareness among the expert and general public about exceptional design projects. They provide opportunity to acclaim and promote the works of particular producers and help the wider public orient themselves on the scene of Czech design. The award ceremony brings together industry representatives, partners and the public. The Czech Design Academy comprises a network of theorists, curators, critics and writers working in the field of design. The main motivation for its founding and for the Czech Grand Design Awards’ original inception is to publicly and regularly present and acclaim particular makers and their products. The laureates are selected without any need to register and on the basis of evaluation drafted by a diverse spectrum of experts working in the field.
