Hana Vopravilová is of the new generation of glassmakers whose work is not afraid to pose certain uncomfortable questions about the contemporary state of the craft. The foremost problem is the demand on resources which glassmakers inevitably face. That is also one of the reasons why the introduction of a wooden glass mould is all the more relevant. Such a mould was also a central research topic for Marcel Mochal of the LLEV studio, who taught Hana at the Faculty of Art and Design of the Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem. Hana came up with the idea to produce forms from recycled materials which she variously found, collected and dismantled. The outcome is wonderful – glass vessels which not only look great but also indicate the fascinating path which the young designer chose to walk. This is the path of invention, courage and consideration – and that is everything!
