The main motif in the fourth collection by Anežka Juhová, a jewellery designer who is a graduate of AAAD, is contrast. The jewellery refers to an ancient plant, the precious spice Taro known for its ornamental leaves, but mostly for the wealth it hides in the ground: the roots, considered by people to be the most precious part of the plant. The main inspiration of the collection is, therefore, balance; between the above and the below, the outside and the inside, and the dynamics of diversity. The morphology of the jewellery is meant to reassure us that one does not exist without the other, i.e., the organic without the exact, the hard without the soft. In shapes inspired by an amorphous aesthetic, the designer incorporates precious stones such as rubies, emeralds, and sapphires, but also onyxes and amethysts. By doing so, she provides the jewellery with an additional dimension, reinforces the meaning and differentiates her designs from competing brands and creators. At the same time, the use of precious stones is a new technological skill the designer learns, and it is important for Anežka Juhová and her eponymous brand and rare nowadays. Evolve, but not in a fast-forward, marketing-led way, but slowly so as not to outgrow her shadow. She launched her website only at the beginning of this year, and she welcomes her clients at her home, where she has set up a home studio. Her own independent studio and shop are planned for the future.
The Taro Collection is a natural follow-up to the designer's previous collection, In Motion, in which she explored jewellery as an object of exploration of the surrounding landscape, nature and natural phenomena. At Designblok'22 she presented the Taro Collection in a joint installation with Monotropa, which came about naturally as she and Klára Janypková are good friends. She was the one who made Anežka exhibit her jewellery at Designblok for the first time three years ago. Apart from the fact that Anežka Juhová studied with Eva Eisler in the K.O.V. studio at AAAD, she had previously studied design at the Czech Technical University for several semesters and also gained experience in Janja Prokić's workshop for three years. Anežka Juhová founded her own brand in 2018 during her studies at AAAD.
