The original modular Totemo playset by designer Adriana Kováčová opens space for spontaneous play, developing the imagination, creativity, and fine motor skills for both children and adults. It is unique in its organic shapes, vibrant colors and a simple yet ingenious modular system. The only limit to building spatial images and sculptures, both abstract and realistic, is your imagination. And the resulting object always looks beautiful. The TOTEMO project has been focused on ecology and sustainability since their earliest beginnings. While the connections are printed on a 3D printer from recycled plastic bottles, the building components are built from wooden plywood printed with ecologically sound colors. The designer’s wish to make the set from fully recycled and recyclable materials became a reality last year with the launch of the new edition in which the components themselves are made from recycled plastic. This was thanks to the efforts of the Pitoresq studio from Czechia who were able to process the necessary materials in a way which prevented the release of harmful chemicals during the repeated recycling process. A unique, all-plastic modular play set was born, offering new options for building and playing, as it is translucent and possible to use in water. Totemo received the prestigious RoPlastic Prize for this edition, getting first place in the category of Inspiring Learning Projects as part of the RoGUILTLESSPLASTIC competition which Rossana Orlandi and Nicoletta Orlandi Brugnoni organize during the Milan Design Week.
