Lexová & Smetana’s Out of the Blue vernissage and the announcement of the Czech Grand Design Awards 2023 finalists.

We cordially invite you to the launch of Lexová & Smetana: Out of the Blue which will take place on Thursday, 29 February 2024 at 18.00. The children’s vernissage starts at 16.00. The designer works of Terezie Lexová and Štěpán Smetana, recipients of the title of Grand Designer at the Czech Grand Design Awards 2022, are notable for one exceptional quality – their playfulness. They combine the pragmatism of necessary utility with whimsical aesthetics and artfulness. This is not only the case in the formal aspects, but also in their overall approach to design, which shows an inevitable drive to narrate a story, to tell, to create. It reminds us that the practical every-day needn’t forsake beauty, exceptionality and experience. It exudes enthusiasm and positive energy. The evening will also feature the announcement of the 2023 Czech Grand Design Awards’ three finalists in each category. This will be the second time in the Czech Grand Design Awards’ 18-year history that the nominations evening will be held at the Museum of Applied Arts in Brno. At 9.30 AM the following day – Friday, 1 March 2024 – there will be a debate discussing the benefits which art directors provide for companies, moderated by Petr Šimůnek, Editor in Chief of Forbes magazine.
